Cable HTA CIS Torsadé Souterrain Description
NF C33-226 cables are the new generation of cables for public power distribution network 12/20 kV. They are AD8 (water pressure < 0,2 bar), AF2 and AN3 complying with NF C13200 standard. Sheath is antitermite resistant. The FR-N20XA8E-AR Cables (aluminium) and FR-N20XA8E-R Cables (copper) are manufactured in accordance with NF-C33-226 – a commonly specified French Normes cable, designed for primary and secondary power distribution. The Medium Voltage cables listed (also referenced as HTA cables in France) have a rated voltage of 12/20kV. The cables with a rated voltage of 18/30kV are referenced with the prefix FR-N30.

These cables are suitable for MV power applications, particularly for connections in transformer stations and power stations, between aerial lines and transformer stations, and for automotive electric powertrain.

With the copper or aluminium conductor variants of these cables available as both a single core cable and 3×1 (trefoil/triplex) cable, the FR-N20XA8E-AR and FR-N20XA8E-R MV cables at 12/20kV and the FR-N30XA8E-AR and FR-N30XA8E-R MV cables at 18/30kV can be installed in ducts, buried directly, or in free air.
The standard sheath colour is black, but depending on the installation specification may be changed – for instance, Red for underground connections, Grey for aerial, above/underground, and technical connections, or Black striped for identification purposes. In all cases, additional protection against mechanical stress should be considered where relevant.
These cables are insulated with XLPE to provide a maximum conductor operating temperature of +90℃. There is an aluminium tape metallic screen, with waterblocking tape wrapped underneath to prevent water ingress. The polyethylene sheathing offers a robust outer layer of environmental protection, resilient against tearing and abrasions and offering good water resistance.
